One the most difficult things to determine out of kids websites is that you want clean and fun information. With a bevy of websites out there, it is hard to decipher those things. However, for the parents there is confidence that there are sites that are good to go to and fun to see. Depending on what the child’s interests are, there is something for them. Whatever you want a child to accomplish — education to blogging — parents can enjoy a safe and secure site for themselves, too.

For Blogging

Kidslearntoblog.com. This is a free blog and it goes great for people that are under 13. It helps get the student ingrained into a blogging culture that is so prevalent today. They can set up their own blogs and the best part of it is – it is all safe and the blogger (your child) is protected. It is a secure site, too, so there can be no tampering with individual blogs. Because it is kid-oriented there are tips for bloggers so they can get a good idea on topics to blog.

For Sports

Sports have always been an interest for kids. When it comes to sports children begin an interest extremely early. It is because of this that there are plenty of sports sites for kids. Sportskids.com is a great one. It is family friendly and they don’t have terrible advertisements that sell something you don’t want your kids to see. Often sports sites have unsavory things to see and read, but this site is completely safe where the content is carefully guarded. Stay up to date on all of today’s sports and you can even shop for fan gear that’s perfect for your child.

For Education

There are many of these sites. But for an all-around kid website that focuses on education kids.discovery.com is a good website. If you have seen Discovery Channel then you know what kind of content they have. This is great for kids to know – and their online site is as fun and original as their programming. Kids will get a kick out of the science, history, math, and fun of various things that run within our universe.

Of course there many other websites. Today there are literally over a billion websites in existence and a small handful of them are family or children friendly. But rest assured there are many that are acceptable by families and their children and they serve a great and unique purpose in providing people with a well rounded experience.

The Internet is a dangerous place. There’s no question and no doubt in people’s minds that there are things there that you would not want your child to see. That’s understandable. You are the responsible parent that wants to raise your child the right way. Even with all the bad websites around there are equally good kids websites that focus solely on the child and their development. If nothing else, it educates them. There are many good sites for kids today that are safe and parent approved.

Kids.nationalgeographic.com – That’s right, throw in some interesting facts – along with some education with this website. No lie, children can get a pretty good education on history, science, geography, and even sports. To top it off there are even games that kids can play to keep their mind off of things for awhile. The website is the children version of the magazine and TV channel we all know well. Perfectly suited for kids from the ages of 4 on up.

Brainpop.com – This site is devoted to games that are educational. Parents, now is your time to be devious and sneak in some education and fun at the same time. Don’t worry, your kids will thank you for it later. Everything is touched upon as far as the core subjects go: science, social studies, English, and math.

SIkids.com – Your child will probably like sports at some point, but even if they don’t they can still like the stories within the site. Some of them are inspiring and give a good perspective on life – and it’s family and kid friendly. Get up to date on sporting news and even play games and sports trivia.

Kids.discovery.com – Watch stuff blow up or watch stuff disappear. Whatever your child’s interests are there are plenty of reason to really enjoy Discovery for kids. Games, facts, figures, science, history, math, lots of information. What can be better? There are even segments of information about animals.

Your children are safe online. It’s just a matter of how you help them find and research the good things online. With many of the problems going on online today it makes it intimidating to go there and allow your children to see things on it. But the sites above and the many sites that are out there devoted to kids, it lessens the burden. Your children are worth it. Watch your kids grow and have fun with family friendly sites. They’re out there – go enjoy them.

Choosing a Good Kid Website

There are a lot of reasons a parent should be concerned in regards to children. One of the biggest is the Internet. With so much junk out there today, it is no wonder parents have to keep an eye on their activity. It’s not fun at all, but children are all impressionable at such a young age. There are, however, good websites that children can go to that will, on the one hand, educate them and on the other, entertain. These sites are designed with the thought in mind that children can get quality information in their minds.

Discovery Kids

Much like Discovery, kids can know how stuff works, methods behind certain experiments, see things explode or simply see cool things in action – and of course everything in between. Discovery Kids opens the mind of the child to science, math, and some history. They are being educated without them even knowing it. It’s almost like you’re sneaking in vegetables into their food. As an added bonus, the site also has puzzles and game designed to work on particular skill sets. It is clearly a genius website.

FunBrain

At FunBrain there are several games and puzzles with an educational twist to them. Anyone is available to play on the site. It is good for people between the ages of 6-16, but kids can play it at virtually any age. So many of the games on the site are brain teasers and give kids something to occupy them for hours upon hours.

National Geographic

Be aware of what’s happening in the world: cultures, people, history, and economics. It’s all discovered in National Geographic for Kids. It’s a great education because kids are not only excited about learning something new, it may be something they won’t pick up in schools. NatGeo for kids is a great website because it is easy to understand, relatable, and it is something unique. Parents will not have any problem letting their kid go to this site.

Nickelodeon

Nick for kids is amazingly fun. Play games all day and watch kid-related content. It’s all the content of Nick in website form. What’s not to like about that? Your kids can get caught up on shows, and get follow up information about upcoming events on Nick.

Of course there are plenty of other sites from which to choose. It is still very important for parents to be careful about kid’s websites. Some sites may market themselves as kid-friendly but several of them are not. The ones listed above are proven to be kid friendly.

Kidslearntoblog.com is an introductory site for kids and parents with everything web-related. It’s geared towards kids under the age of 13 and features articles about how to help an introverted kid blossom, articles on how kids can navigate around the world of blogging. For instance, how to start a blog, and how to determine which blogs are safe for kids, etc. Also, there are different blogs already established, that are popular amongst kids. Those are featured on the site as well.

Everloop.com

3 moms who were raising kids and realized that the kids didn’t have a safe place to connect with family and friends online established Everloop.com. There were quite a bit of predators online that were making things unsafe for their kids. These moms decided to make some changes and give their kids a safe online place to go. They didn’t want to wait for someone else to do it, they decided to start something themselves. They established Everloop, a safe place for their kids to visit online and where they could concentrate on excellent customer service.

Everloop is geared towards kids 13 and under. Their mission is to provide the children with the ability to have a safe, social media experience that is appropriate to their age group. Everloop has partners with different companies to provide, not only entertainment, but also educational activities.

Everloop prides themselves on the customer service they provide not only to the kids, but to their parents as well. Some parents often aren’t sure how to navigate their kid’s lives online. Everloop offers advice for parents and kids on how to discover and optimize their experience on the internet.

Kids are able to set up their own profiles, and even share info and pictures with friends. Kids involved in Everloop can create “loops” for themselves around all the things that they are involved in and enjoy; music, crafts, sports. There are also “goobs.” “Goobs” are a way that kids can safely prank their friends’ profiles. For instance throwing a virtual pie on the friends profile age. Also, everloop offers an arcade that consists of over 1,500 games online.

Kidsknowit.com is an educational website for children. It features learning tools such as games, movies, activities, podcasts, and even comics. Example, a biology word search, geology games, and latitude/longitude activities. There are hundreds of games listed on this site covering a wide variety of topics. There are also links to other websites where a child can investigate more in depth about a particular subject. For instance there is a specific website for biology activities, memory activities, spelling or history. The site also features something called Miamiopia, which is an educational virtual world for kids, free of charge.

Uptoten.com is an interactive website for kids that targets kids 10 or younger. You start out deciding between either an “educational” category, or a “games” category.

There are 25 different games categories; examples listed below-

Dressing up

Puzzles

Coloring pages

Spot the difference

Painting

Races

Mazes

There are 25 educational categories; Examples listed below-

Imagination

Memory

Listening

Orientation

Logic

Decision-making

Geometry

Body movement

After you pick a topic, you are then given detailed information about the age group appropriate for this particular subject/activity as well as exactly what skills the child will be developing when completely the task. Then the child can start to actually get the task completed. For example, decorating a house, writing a song ,or making a birthday card. There is also a component on the site that lets the parents know if supervision is necessary for the completion of the task. The site also offers the ability for a parent or child to type in the question they have in regards to the task they are looking to complete. That is an option other than picking from the already existing list of tasks.

Preteen/Teen

So once we get to this age, the kids are going to want to go on for fun. This is when you need to keep your eyes on what your children are searching for. Around the preteen age Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network are going to be constantly watched in your home. Well, they also have fun websites. Nickelodeon not only has fun games on its website, but you can also take healthy challenges. There are challenges that get your child outside to play. It’s a great movement.

The Nickelodeon website also has over one thousand games. Now that is enough to keep any teen busy. Plus they are all free. The games include characters from popular television shows. They not only have games like SpongeBob, but there are a variety of different games. There are also strategy and puzzle games to keep the mind thinking.

If your teen likes some of the music on the shows then they have options too. There is a tab for your teen to go and watch music videos. They can just about watch every music video that they see airing on Nickelodeon. They can also click on their favorite star and keep track of all the upcoming events that that person has going on in the future.

The Cartoon Network website also has many games. These games are geared towards the older teens. They have this really great game called Project Exonaut. Project Exonaut is an online game that allows you to play with other people. The great thing about this game is you don’t have to worry about kids chatting and hearing inappropriate language, but they have the satisfaction of knowing that they are playing with other kids their age.

Cartoon Network is a great place to let your teen start getting into chat rooms if you think they are ready for it. They can find a room to chat with friends, or about their favorite shows. The great thing about Cartoon Network’s chat room is that they do not tolerate any negative post. If a person is found bullying or sending a hate post, they will delete them right away, and the person can get kicked off.

These are just a few of the many wonderful kids’ websites out there. The Internet has come a very long way when it comes to entertaining your children. You can find just about anything you need. Just remember the most important thing: keep an eye on your child. Do not let them roam the web without supervision. Have fun!

With technology growing, the Internet has become the number one use of households. When children see their parents on the computer, they get curious. Now, we all know that the web is not a place that is strictly kid friendly and the Internet is definitely not a place to let your children roam freely around. So here are some websites for all ages that children can play safely on.

Toddlers

One of the best websites for toddlers is Sprout. Sprout is home to such shows like:

Barney

Sesame Street

The Wiggles

The Sunny Side Up show

Monkey See Monkey Do

Super WHY, and a lot more

The games on the website are endless. They have games for every show that they feature on the television. These games are interactive and very easy to use. Parents and toddlers will have hours of fun with the games. With so many options to choose from, there will not be a dull moment of the day.

If your toddler loves music, then you’re in luck. The Sprout website has all the music videos from the television theme songs. Not only do they have the theme songs, but they also have educational music videos. Plus they also show clips from the shows too. If you want to learn about numbers today and animals tomorrow, they have clips in those categories for you and your toddler.

They also have a section for crafts. You can print out your toddlers favorite character so they can color or paint the picture. Not only can you print out coloring papers, but they also have a section for crafts you can do for parties, and special times like Mother’s and Father’s Day cards.

The best part of the Sprout website for the parents has to be the recipe section. There are pages and pages of healthy options for snacks, lunch, and dinner. Not only are they healthy, but they are fun. For example, they give you a recipe to make meatloaf, but they also show you how to turn a loaf of meatloaf into a bus.
